The Narrative OC MEME 2
by =xTalithaxI. Choose up to five (5) of your favourite original story characters that will embark in this role-play. If you don't have five (5) then leave them blank (or create a character on the spot!) Be sure to give a little description of them:
1. Lionel
A strong earth wizard, due to powers he was gifted by Tatiana years ago. He fell out of favour in Tatiana's court fifteen years ago, when he was involved in the extraction of Rose, a fairy who wanted to live amongst humans. He looks to be about forty, but is in fact far older and often feels it in his movements.
2. Tatiana Fairy Queen of Life
The Queen of what was once the most powerful fairy court (excepting, of course Latanya's), now fallen to a new low following Tatiana's loss. Tatiana is not easily angered; in fact there are only three living people who seem to be able to do it, although Lionel can do it without even trying. She appears young (early twenties) but is in fact centuries old. Her hair is red and always hangs loose to her waist. She has worn nothing but black for fifteen years and (like the rest of her court) has wings like those of a butterfly. She is called sister to Latanya, the fourth and most powerful of the Fairy Queens.
3. Vespera, Fairy Queen of Light
Vespera's court was forced into exile many years ago by Tatiana, who was forced into action to protect her own interests. Vespera has had plenty of time to stew and her bitterness towards Tatiana has only grown in this time. As Tatiana's court grows weaker and weaker, the bonds that keep Vespera away from the Earth are also lessening in strength. The fairies of light are all more "elf like" than their fellow courts, and Vespera is little different. Her skin is always lightly tanned, her hair dark brown and always worn elaborately curled, as was the fashion when she last caught a successful glimpse of the planet Earth. Her clothes are also loosely modelled on that day and are reminiscent of the Victorian era. The technology of her court is, by necessity, far more advanced than that of any other. When Tatiana exiled Vespera, she tore off the Queen of Light's wings, scattering the pieces to the winds. Vespera has since then built herself a pair, and all fairies of her court are forced to undergo the same so as not to upstage their queen. Sister to Morena in much the way Tatiana is sister to Latanya.
4. Morena, Fairy Queen of the Dark
Morena's court is for the first time in history, the most powerful of the three fairy courts (not including the court of Queen Latanya), due mostly to a single clause in the alliance signed between herself, Tatiana and the wizards of old. This single clause entitles Morena's court to the early memories of all who encounter fairy-kind as well as all memories belonging to a wizard prior to the discovery of his or her powers. Her wings are more moth-like than those of Tatiana.
5. Sarah/Rose
Sarah, Lionel's daughter, has no memories of her magical abilities, as she gave them up fifteen years previously in order to live with the man she loved. With him she had a child, called Lily. Her husband, however, died mysteriously shortly after their daughter was born. Sarah's only inklings of the fairies come from the stories Lionel has told her in the past fifteen years, although her view of them is skewed by her instincts to distrust the one who took away Lionel's memories. She looks very little like her father, instead retaining her mother's delicate features. She dies her hair platinum blonde, because before she did she could not help but see someone else when she looked in the mirror.
Rose is Sarah's collective memories of her existence with magic and has lived with Tatiana since she was split from the whole. She also holds all of Rose's magical abilities but as she is the lesser part of the original is weak and frail. When the two are reunited as a single being, they take the name Rose, as it was the one her parents chose for her.
The timing of Rose/Sarah's parts may be confusing. Any part where she is referred to as Rose and is healthy is late in the story, except for question III, which is prior to the splitting of Sarah and Rose. Any part where she is Sarah is early in the story, as is sickly/ill rose.
II. Asleep
Morena had never had a childhood. She had merely come into existence with the world. She did, however, as all fairies did, cherish those early years of her life. This particular night, she dreamt of a time many years past, when her sister had been far away and the darkness engulfed her.
Morena's eyes twitched as her dreaming mind looked across the barren land. She did not get along with her sister at all, but she had to admit that she was rather enjoying the effect that Vespera's powers were having upon the fertile land. She could see the court of Life not so far away, dancing and singing their infuriating songs. She could pick out the flying mane of Queen Tatiana as she danced. Even now, so many centuries on, Morena could remember the exuberance on that dancing face, lips in time with the song, and still she despised it.
Of the first few hundred years of her life, this night stood out to Morena just for that moment. That was the moment when she vowed that one day, she would beat the Queen of Life, that she would be the one smiling and dancing. That the world would be hers.
III. However, Sarah/Rose continues to toss and turn, haunted by her childhood nightmare! What scared them as a child?
I HAD to write about this for a scary dream. She's technically not quite a child, but relative to the other characters she's still a wee one here
"Are you sure, Rose?" Lionel asked, his knees clicking as he knelt before the girl, barely nineteen years old.
"I am sure," she nodded. "You made your choice," she glanced over at Tatiana who was determinately not looking at her, "and now I've made mine. This is what I want to do with my life, and to do it I need to be human."
"Very well, my Rose."
"Sarah."
"Sarah?"
"That's what I told him my name was," she said, smiling, "and that's what I want to be called when this is all over."
"Very well Sarah." She watched as he turned away and moved over to where Tatiana sat, still resolutely looking anywhere but at Rose. "She's ready," Lionel said softly, and Rose had to strain her ears to hear the whispered conversation.
"I still if Morena finds out "
"That is why it will be our secret. The court will believe something else happened to Rose if that's what you tell them."
"I gave my word," Tatiana snapped waspishly, "and I will do it, but still it goes against everything I believe to be right."
"Then do it quickly," Rose said, letting them know that she could hear every word. Tatiana's eyes flashed angrily and she rose from her throne. Rose flinched a little and took a step back. The red that blazed in the Queen's eyes easily outshone that of her dress.
"Very well," Tatiana hissed, and pressed a hand to Rose's chest.
Sarah jolted awake, her breathing fast and heavy. Jumbled pictures and images collided inside her head, but one seemed to stand out from the rest, right before the pain that always set in. The memory of a face, filled with hurt, anger and betrayal, which was somehow the most terrifying thing Sarah had ever seen.
IV. Tatiana finds a diary with Morena's name on it. She eagerly reads a random page to themselves. What does the entry say?
Morena left very soon after arriving, as was her custom. Tatiana took a moment to regain her temper, always so near the surface these days, and turned to head back inside. She took a step forward and then glanced down to see what it was she had stood on. Bending down, she picked up a small black book. She shuddered as she realised it was bound in human skin. Carefully, she opened the book and her heart began to race as she saw the tongue it was written in.
It was old, as old as she was herself, and only four beings in the whole of creation were known to understand and speak it. This meant that, in all likelihood, Morena herself had written this book. She read the first page greedily and was delighted to find that she was right the book was a journal of sorts. Tatiana flipped through until she was at the most recent entry and began to read. Merely three sentences through, she dropped the book in disgust. She had known that Morena had wanted Lily's memories, but the lust and obsession with which she talked of them was repulsive. Tatiana headed inside, making a special effort to squash the book into the mud as she passed.
V. Vespera is severely poisoned and is slowly dying. Explain how it happened and if she survives.
So this was to be the end? Her grand schemes and her careful planning all reduced to nothing. There must, she realised too late, be a spy upon the ship. Whether it belonged to Tatiana or Morena she would now never know, but she knew now that it had been a mistake to order the destruction of her courts wings so long ago. It would, she had thought back then, be inconceivable for one of the life or dark fairies to go that far for their Queen.
Surely, it must have been one of Tatiana's? None of her sister's court were loyal enough for that, but Tatiana had always sparked a sort of dumb obedience from her followers. Yes, that must be it. She coughed, and blood spattered the floor before her. That was not something she had ever seen before. She had, foolishly, convinced herself that she was immortal; that she would be alive long after the human race was but a faded memory.
She blinked. Her vision was blurry, but still she swore she could see it, could feel its warmth. With all the energy she had left, Vespera pushed herself into a sitting position, leaning against the window. There, still so far away and yet closer than it had been in centuries, the sun. She took a deep breath and let its warm light fill her being. There were stars all over the universe, but none of them held quite the same power as this one. She felt the light racing through her blood, cleansing it of the impurity and she stood, imposing as ever and once more immortal.
VI. A gang of bullies are picking on Morena. Tatiana
So I took a slight liberty on my interpretation of "a gang of bullies." Given that Morena is one of the four original beings of the world, it makes sense that only one of them would be able to REALLY bully her. Luckily, one of them isn't a character in the above list :)
"Queen Morena," Latanya placed unnecessary emphasis upon the first word, her voice hissing down from the trees above. Morena did not move, did not rise to the bait offered, "Always standing in the dark, afraid to move into the light."
"Perhaps," Morena replied at last, "you should not be one to talk. I do not avoid my sister out of choice, but you "
"I avoid my sister because I have work to do. You avoid your sister because you are weak."
"Weak?" Morena laughed, "not the word I would use, Latanya dearest." A growl, feral and deep, came from somewhere above where the light shone thinly through the leaves and Morena felt herself thrown forcefully backwards into a tree. As she pushed herself up from the ground she heard a contented chuckle.
"Latanya," a voice, strident and not the one either of them had expected to hear, rang through the forest, "you send my messengers back with threats of violence. I try only to reach out in this time of need."
"You seek only my help to defeat Vespera," Latanya scoffed, appearing before them at long last, her eyes hooded and her white dress torn. Shadows shifted at her back, great wings of smoke lowering her to the ground.
"And do you not wish to fight her, after what she did to your court?"
"I will see Vespera when her time comes." Tatiana's voice caught in her throat as she made to reply. Instead she said, in a somewhat croaky voice, "you mean "
"That Vespera will die?" Latanya replied, "No. I will not allow that."
"Not allow," Tatiana raged, "what gives you the right to-"
"I have every right," Latanya replied coldly, "Vespera herself made sure of it. Were she to die, all light would die with her and with that your own court would collapse. This is the balance in which we must live. Now leave."
"Not until you give me a straight answer."
"I have not yet got what I came for," Morena replied, narrowing her eyes.
"Nor will you ever get it. Leave this place. This is your last warning."
"You are no more powerful than I am," Morena laughed, "you have no-" she never finished the sentence. Latanya screamed and the air rippled, sending both Morena and Tatiana hurtling back through the forest.
"Leave this place and do not return," Latanya screamed after them, "I have earned my peace."
VII.
Lionel looked down at the closed flower bud in his hand, concentrating with all of his might. "Don't worry," Tangle said, sitting down next to him and crossing her legs, "most humans take years to really get any good at Magic. Many take decades."
"But I want to be good now," the little boy said petulantly, "I want to show Mummy."
"We can't have that," Tangle reminded him, "she doesn't know about magic or fairies at all. Telling her would break the rules."
"Why are there rules?" Because a load of ancient wizards said there should be," tangle shrugged, "maybe you should ask Tatiana when you meet her."
"When will I meet her?" Lionel asked, his eyes lighting up with images of the great being he imagined the fairy queen to be.
"Not for many years yet," Tangle laughed as he stuck his lower lip out. "Come here," she said, placing her hands around his. "Don't try to force the bud to open, simply ask it to do so, gently. Life does not respond to force. That is a power better left to those of the dark." Lionel nodded and looked down at the bud, asking over and over again for it to open.
Tangle smiled as she felt a spark of his potential tickle her fingers. Instinctively, she sent a shot of her own power to meet it, causing the bud to flower.
"I did it!" Lionel whooped ecstatically.
"Well done. I don't think I could have done it better myself."
VIII. In an alternate universe, there exists an opposite version of Lionel, Vespera, and Sarah/Rose. Pick one and explain their looks and personality.
This one couldn't have been easier if I tried. Number three already has an opposite!
Morena did not enjoy sitting still. That was the province of the other queens, she reasoned. She preferred to be on the move, flitting through the shadows of her domain. Her wings may have looked like those of a moth, but unlike a moth she stayed away from the light for fear of being burnt. She barely stopped, occasionally listening to snatches of a conversation here, whispered secrets there. Morena traded in secrets. Her dark hair rippled through the shadows, merging with the smoky skirt of her dress.
She finally came to rest in the garden of Tatiana's bower in the court of life. She could see the despised Queen stood by the archway that lead inside and a smirk crossed her dark lips, twisting her pale face. Tatiana was so easy to manipulate, something her sister had never quire figured out.
IX. Vespera tries to make Morena their apprentice. She soon discovers that teaching her ends with failure. Why is that?
"There is truly nothing to be feared from the light," Vespera said tersely, her eyebrows raised as she glanced towards the shadows in which Morena skulked.
"Perhaps not for you, but I will remain in the shadows for the foreseeable future."
"You rely too much on the protection of the shadows. Do you truly think they would ever stop Latanya, should she choose to seek you out, and Tatiana is no coward, whatever her many faults. Come and join me in the light, and we could rule over the both of them, forever."
"As tempting as that sounds, I will still refuse," Morena insisted, "staying within the lights did you no good in the end," Morena's wings fluttered a little instinctively, something that Vespera did not miss.
Rage flickered in her orange eyes and her skin began to glow a soft orange as she approached her sister, "say that once more," she hissed. Morena, perhaps wisely, said nothing. Vespera moved into the shadows, dispelling them with every step. She grasped Morena's arm with a single glowing hand and it began to smoke. Morena whimpered a little in pain and shock until Vespera let go.
"You are forever in my shadow," Vespera whispered, "that offer will never come again."
X. In a cave or woods,
"It's harder than you'd expect," Rose panted, hands pressed firmly to the soil.
"What were you expecting then?" Tatiana laughed, "you're trying to manipulate the energy of life itself, you should come prepared for a little struggle."
"But you make it look so easy," she moaned.
"I've been at this since this world began; of course I make it look easy."
"I suppose, but still even the others make it look easier than this."
"They've been doing it almost as long as I have. You've been doing it for less than twenty four hours. All things considered you're doing well."
"I'm not doing anything!"
"But you're coping with your powers better than most when first introduced to them. Many wizards went mad in the early days."
"Some warning might have been nice!" Sarah gasped.
"Years ago," Tatiana reiterated. "Anyway, you're different." She laid a hand on Rose's arm, "It's a case of feeling for the energy, and asking it to do as you bid."
"Asking it?" Rose said sceptically.
"Um hmm," Tatiana replied clearly not really listening. Rose shrugged and closed her eyes. She felt a slight tug and realised that Tatiana was trying to point her in the right direction. Her senses dove further and further down into the core of the earth where energy seemed to be in abundance. Under Tatiana's direction, she scooped up a piece of the energy and directed it 'asked it' to do what she wanted. Then she felt herself jerked back into her body and became aware of a slight tickling under the palm of her hand. She moved it back in time to see green sprout pop out of the earth, growing higher and higher until it blossomed, a beautiful red rose.
XI. All of the Characters decide to
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA LIKE THAT WOULD EVER HAPPEN! But anyway, if it did
"You sure this is a good idea?" Rose asked sceptically as Lionel climbed into the driver's seat.
"No, but to be honest I think it will do them good."
"It'll be entertainment that's for sure," she grinned at him as she slid into the passenger's side.
"You expect me to go in that thing with them?" Tatiana said, her eyebrows raised as she look at the back of the jeep which was not all that roomy.
"I wouldn't have told you to do it if I hadn't meant it," Lionel pointed out, "now get in or else I'll have the council withdraw support of the new alliance."
"You wouldn't dare!"
"Try me," Lionel smirked. Grumbling, Tatiana slid into the back of the car. She was further dismayed to see that Morena was already sat, sulking of course, at the far end, leaving her sandwiched between the queens of light and dark.
"I still don't see why I should cooperate with this," Vespera sniffed haughtily.
"You will cooperate because if you do not you will be exiled once more, along with that pretty little bracelet on your arm," Tatiana hissed. If she had to sit through this, she would make her enemies suffer. Vespera fingered the vine that was wrapped tightly about her left arm, restricting her power.
"And me, Tatiana? Why should I come?" Morena's voice was as silky as ever.
"You will come," Lionel called back as he reversed the jeep out of the drive, "because if you don't I will remove the new agreement we made from the alliance, leaving your court as powerless as it ever has been." Morena scowled.
"Now behave yourselves. This is Roger's jeep so lets at least try keep it in one piece."
There was silence for a little while as Lionel drove out of the town and into a deserted country lane, humming quietly to himself. Rose smirked as she glanced in the rear-view mirror. There was something insanely pleasant about seeing the three of them fighting for arm room in the back. Tatiana definitely appeared to be winning. She glanced over at Lionel to see him smirking at her.
"Told you it would do them good," he whispered
XII. Tatiana is finally dead and is sent to either heaven or hell. Where does she end up? Why?
She's the Queen of Life. When she dies everything dies. I had to take slight liberties and write the death scene. I just had to. And the theology of the world in the story doesn't allow for heaven or hell.
She stood there at the end of all things, her breath coming in short bursts. She had known all along that she would be among the last to go the rules they lived by had told her as much and now that it had finally come it was a relief. She had lived a long life, and one that she was not altogether proud of, but there were sections of it, great chunks which shone in her memories even now centuries later.
Slowly, leaning heavily on the decaying remains of the forest, she moved through into the sheltered grove. There were a number of graves here, all of them wizard or fairy, but there were four she headed towards in particular. One was old, ancient even, the name on the stone barely readable. She traced his name with a finger, her skin still as perfect as the day she had come to be. Lionel, the stone said. "See you soon," she whispered, before adding, "hopefully."
The next two were much newer, maybe only fifty or so years old. Rose and Lily, the stones said. A single tear fell to the carefully tended grass. The grave on the end was fresh, days old at most, and there was someone there to mourn already.
"You miss her?" Tatiana said, out of breath.
"That is not the word I would use," Morena replied, looking sadly towards the Queen of Life. "It all seems so petty now. The fights and the alliances, the treaties and the betrayal."
"All a part of the lives we lead," Tatiana replied, gazing down at Vespera's grave in it's eternal shadow. The sun had died with her.
"Are you ready?" Latanya asked from behind them, her voice hesitant for the first time in many years.
"I think at long last I am," Tatiana replied.
"Then with you shall come all life. Morena, will you walk with us?"
"What choice do I have?"
"None." Latanya lead them out of the grove, and Tatiana spared it only one final glance before following her sister. "We move from that world in which we lived and through into the next. Injuries of this place will be cleansed and we shall begin again as we were." Latanya seemed to be changing as they moved towards the light, her wings of shadow pulling together and lightening, white feathers sprouting from her shoulder blades. "Maybe some part of us will remember the past of this world and we may live in harmony, or maybe the great cycle will repeat once more."
"But either way," Tatiana whispered, "welcome to the new world."
"They've been waiting for you." As Tatiana set foot onto the soft earth, grass began to sprout about her bare feet. Before them stood a tall, slender figure, her wings of soft gold framed by the light from the sun. Morena smiled and moved to embrace her sister and her opposite, treasuring this final moment."
"And the new world is born," Latanya whispered. Tatiana blinked and looked around. She had come to be, in this new world and she knew her place in it. How she had got there, however, she knew not.
XIII. Sarah/Rose decides to make breakfast for Lionel. What did they make? Is Lionel satisfied?
"I'm not that ill," Lionel coughed as Sarah bustled into the room carrying a tray.
"Nonsense," she said. "You do this all the time I swear you wizards are all too stoic for your own good.
"Maybe, but I can still make myself breakfast."
"Whatever," Sarah dumped the tray on the small table by the bed and appraised her father. "You don't look well either way. Make sure you eat it all." Lionel sighed resignedly as she left the room and reached over for the tray. Oh well, he thought. It was toast how bad could toast be? He bit into it and instantly wished he hadn't asked himself. Slowly, very slowly, Lionel began to eat the burnt slices.
XIV. Vespera and Morena decide to become bandits and rob people as they head into the forest. They happen to rob Lionel. Do they succeed?
Lionel looked around carefully as he entered the forest, his senses alert for incoming danger. It would certainly be like Tangle to try trick him somewhere like this. Confidant that there was no one nearby he moved forwards.
"Stop where you are, wizard!" A voice came from behind him. Cursing himself, Lionel turned.
"You must be Vespera," he said coolly. She was too powerful to be anyone but a fairy queen and she was certainly not Morena.
"Good call, wizard," Morena hissed, emerging from the shadows behind him, "Now give it to us."
"No," Lionel growled, clutching the book tight to his chest.
"She said give us the book," Vespera demanded, moving towards Lionel, her hand held out, "before we are forced to resort to violence."
"Because Tatiana would not wish for revenge if you did that," Lionel snorted.
"You jest!" Morena laughed, "Tatiana is weak. She couldn't hold her own in a fight against one of us, never mind the both of us."
"You are outnumbered by two of the most powerful beings of this world," Vespera snapped, "just hand over the damned book."
Lionel hesitated. On the one hand, the book could well prove pivotal to a number of things. On the other hand, if he refused to give them the book, they would kill him and take it anyway. Reluctantly, he held it out.
XV. All of the Characters have fallen into the past and are now children once again. They are playing hide-and-go-seek. What child is doing the seeking? Where are the children hiding? Why can't they find the last child?
erm I'm choosing to miss out this question, given that three of the characters never were children. Ever. Not on this world. Their original creation is something even they have no knowledge about, nor memories of. They remember as far back as the creation of the world in which they live, but when they move on, those memories are lost, regained only briefly on each passage between worlds which may be millennia apart. All in all, this would make a game of hide and seek as children very awkward. If they were sent into the past they would merely be as they are now.
XVI. In an alternate universe, Lionel happens to be the servant of
Alternate universe = universe in which Vespera beat Tatiana that fateful day, rather than the other way around
Lionel bowed deeply, "Will that be all majesty?" he asked, still looking at the ground.
"I think so," Vespera sniffed, surveying the platter before her with a withering glare. "I will call for you once more when I am finished.
"Of course majesty."
"You may go." Lionel rose from the bow, his back stiff, and moved silently from the room. He headed down the corridor of the bower and into the servants quarters, the only part of the bower that was entirely indoors.
"Did she approve?" Roger asked, rolling his eyes.
"Same as always," Lionel hissed, "now shush! She hears everything."
"Relax, it's dark in here. The only person who can hear us is Morena and she hates Vespera as much as everybody else.
"Yeah, I suppose."
"You should probably get your other work done before she's done eating."
"Yeah."
"Foods in the corner." Lionel sighed and moved over to another tray. This one was battered and cracked, made of red plastic rather than the elaborate gold of the one he had just taken to Vespera. He picked it up and glanced with distaste at the single slab of stale bread upon it.
He moved through into the brightest chamber in the bower. Great globes of light hung in the four corners and some magic Vespera had cast many years ago kept the prisoner pinned to the centre of the room. She was as lifeless as ever as Lionel set the tray down next to her. He sighed slightly as he looked upon her silken red hair. It seemed impossible to him that this woman was a fairy queen as Vespera was. The ugly scars on her back showed where her wings had once been, but they had been gone long before Lionel was born.
He turned to leave but jumped at a sound of movement from behind. "there's no need to be afraid," a voice came from behind him. "I like you more than the last one," Tatiana said ponderously, "wonder if you'll last any longer."
XVII. Its almost valentines days,
"I made you something," Tatiana said, looking towards the horizon.
"You did?"
"No, I just thought I'd say it for the sake of it."
"Oh alright."
"Want to see it?" Tatiana blushed a little what was it about Lionel that made her feel so silly?
"I suppose," Lionel smiled at her.
"Let's go to the garden then."
"But it's a mess. You've seen it, I never bother taking care of it "
"Not that garden. The other garden?"
"Other garden?"
"Just watch," Tatiana stood and moved over to the door, pushing the handle down. Lionel gasped. Before him was not the poky patch of suburban mess that he had expected, but a veritable paradise. Acres of grass stretched out before him, with every plant that could ever be needed for a potion or spell growing around the border. He took a tentative step outside and a deep breath of summer air, despite it being winter back on the streets of the real world.
"I thought it would be useful," she said, "to help keep the secret, if we had somewhere secret we could retreat to."
"It's perfect," Lionel said, reaching for her hand.
XVIII. Before we go, all of your characters want to take a moment to give you (their creator) some "light" criticism on the stories that feature them.
1.Lionel Just a single point really The thing is, do I ever get to show any of my powers? I mean, I'm a wizard, but the only thing I've done so far is complicated cooking. I even used an oven to heat it!
XxXTalithaXxX You'll get your chance. Just wait around a little bit longer.
2.Tatiana I like my role. It feels main character-ish. This is because I am so important I assume?
XxXTalithaXxX Well you are a main character one of them, certainly *mumbles something about Lionel*
3.Vespera Why does it take me so long to return to Earth? Six whole chapters without me in every one of them is simply a tragedy!
XxXTalithaXxX I know. You are a rather amazing evil character as they go, even if I say so myself .
4.Morena I don't get it, am I good or evil?
XxXTalithaXxX Well evil is a strong word. You side with whoever you think's going to win. You follow your own interests and keep them as your focus.
5.Sarah/Rose Even I get confused why are there two of me, and why do I merge?
XxXTalithaXxX Just wait two or three more chapters and you'll get it. Promise. Pinky swear even!
